| MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2012 | | CHILLY CHELTENHAM | Albion House Social Club
Saturday 4th of February saw us making a very wintry journey up the M5 to Cheltenham for our very first visit to the Albion House Social Club. We half expected this gig to be cancelled due to the weather conditions, but as we had not heard from the club we soldiered on and made it OK.
This club is in the middle of a million pound refit and building extension so we played in the skittle ally instead of the main hall, which resembled a building site. The weather conditions made sure it was a smaller crowd than usual for a Saturdays entertainment, according to the club members, we never the less had a very good night here and we received many complements about our performance and assurances from the club officials that they would very much like for us to return later in the year - hopefully when the weather is better !!!
We played mostly sixties and seventies numbers which was very popular with the club members, which is usual for a club of this type. We are looking forward to playing here again and wish the club all the best with their major improvement plans and hope to be regular performers here in the new facilities.
Our next gig is at The Pilot pub at Bowerhill Melksham on the 18th February, looking forward to seeing a lot of friends and locals there again.
Bye for now. Keep warm !!! | | Feb 06, 2012 @ 7:31 PM | 0 comment(s) |

Conservative Club Swindon
We kicked off 2012 with a return visit to the Conservative Club in Swindon Old Town on Saturday 7th Jan. We thought this would be a very quiet evening so soon after Christmas and the New Year festivities, how wrong we were. We had a great night, as we did on our first visit here back in July last year.
This crowd really know how to enjoy themselves with the dance floor filled and many people singing along with us, 60's music seems to go down best at this club, although we did throw a few of our more recent numbers in to try to please everybody. We are booked here again for 7th of July so we hope to have another good night then with this great crowd.
Our next gig is a visit to one of our regulars, the Pilot pub at Bowerhill Melksham on February 18th, we hope to see many of the locals and our friends at this venue then for a good evenings entertainment, bye for now.

| | MONDAY, JANUARY 2, 2012 | | New year at Westbury | New Year's Eve
Wow, is the only way to describe our New Year's Eve party gig at the Westbury Conservative Club. The place was packed to the rafters and after a slow start, or was it lack of alcohol !!! the crowd really started to enjoy themselves. The dance floor was overflowing with dancers of all ages, this lot were up for a good party.
We had rearranged our set to freshen things up a little ( Clive likes to keep us on our toes ) and it was very well received, we pride ourselves on playing something for everybody at our performances and with such an age variation as this it is vital so we can please every one.
The club steward was very happy with the way the evening went and has assured us of more work here in the new year, it is very satisfying to play a new venue and pick up more work, it shows we are giving our best for our clients and as musicians is a boost for our confidence.
We would like to give our sincere thanks to the staff at the club for their hospitality and the crowd, you were great, a pleasure to play for and we look forward to our future gigs here.
We will be playing the Conservative Club in Swindon on the 7th of January, a return visit following our first gig at this venue last summer, we look forward to seeing all you here again.
Bye for now and a very Happy New Year to all our friends and clients from This Way Up. | | Jan 02, 2012 @ 3:39 PM | 0 comment(s) |
| | WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2011 | | Up The Junction | UP THE JUNCTION
Last Saturday ( 11 th ) we played at a new venue, The Tabernacle Junction in Yeovil. When we arrived we were greeted by two very friendly guys who were the sound engineers for the club, they quickly set us up and we had a great sound.
We then met the owners who directed us to the artists green room which contained a well stocked fridge and comfortable relaxing surroundings, they couldn't do enough for us, if only all venues were like this !!
There were a lot of people attended the evenings entertainment, we all said if it had been a full house the atmosphere would have been superb. Hopefully we will return for a follow up booking at a later time as we would love to play this club again.
Many thanks to all the staff at the club for your hospitality and hope we can all have a better night next time.
Our next gig is at the Conservative Club Westbury New Years Eve.

| | MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2011 | | PLAYING THE PILOT |
Saturday 5th November saw us making a return visit to the Pilot at Melksham, a large crowd enjoyed our pub set with one regular 'dancing' from our very first number, it was a special night for us as Sonia and Clive's wife Sally both had birthdays about this time and they brought family and friends to the gig, congratulations to them, hope everybody enjoyed the evening.
The gig went very well and the landlady booked us for three more Saturdays next year. On that note we would like to thank all the venues who have re booked us for next year, our 2012 diary is filling nicely so get in quickly if you want to book us !
We have a bit of a break now to our next gig.A bit early I know but happy Christmas and New Year to all our friends, supporters and regular venues from us all. | | Nov 07, 2011 @ 5:50 PM | 0 comment(s) |
